Description
Kanchipuram (Kanjeevaram) sarees from Tamil Nadu are widely considered the “Queen of Silks” due to their structural weight, unmatched durability, and distinctive weaving technique.
Pure Mulberry Silk: Crafted from thick, heavy-gauge three-ply silk (three silk threads twisted with silver/gold wire), making them heavier and more durable than other silk sarees.
Korvai Weaving Technique: The body and the border are woven separately and then joined together using a specialized zigzag interlocking technique (Korvai). If you pull at the joint, it remains completely inseparable.
Petni Technique: The pallu (the decorative end of the saree) is woven in a completely contrasting color and seamlessly fused to the main body using a unique warp-changing method.
