Handloom sarees

Description

Handloom sarees are traditional Indian textiles woven completely by hand on a manual loom, without the use of electricity. They are considered masterpieces of sustainable fashion, where a single saree can take anywhere from 3 days to several months to complete.

Uneven Selvedge (Edges): The borders of handloom sarees often feature slight irregularities or tiny pinholes where the fabric was pinned to the wooden loom framework.

Weft Slubs: You can find minute variations, tiny knots, and subtle thickness variations in the yarn threads that occur naturally during manual weaving.

Thread Floats: The reverse side of a handloom saree displays raw yarn endings and intricate, floating thread webs where weavers manually switched colors.

Unique Imperfections: No two handwoven sarees are exactly identical; minor pattern inconsistencies give every single piece a unique, human touch.
